Artist in Residence

Tomorrow we will start out work with our Artist in Residence, Sharon Fortowsky.  We will be working with her in four sessions to create a collaborative art piece around our inquiry of community.  As we will be working with acrylic paint please make sure your child wears clothing on Tuesday and Thursday that can get messy or painted on.  We will have some paint shirts but acrylic paint is permanent on fabric.
Thank you!

Request from Grade 2 - Thermostat Challenge

Help save the Polar Bears!  We are asking you to take the Thermostat Challengeand turn down the heat in your homes and at school by 2 degrees!  This will help save the sea ice that polar bears need for survival.  This week grade 2 students are celebrating International Polar Bear Day and as part of that celebration, we would like to invite everyone to take part in this challenge.  You can make a difference!
Thank you from the grade 2 students!

Please let your teacher know if you are participating as the grade 2 students will be graphing our school-wide results.

Today we  posted our fairy tales on IRIS by reading them aloud and recording a video.   Take sometime to listen to our amazing stories. While you are logged on, you can also check out the comments on your child's previous artifacts.

Today we created some beautiful art work in the style of Jim Dine. We used oil pastel to create stunning hearts. Before we started our final piece we practiced different oil pastel techniques then discussed colour combinations that would go well. Once our final art pieces where completed we wrote kindness notes/compliments  to our classmates around the art work.
